It's a very safe process, and the ear piercer has had quite a lot of experience piercing ears. It's done in a separate room, so you have privacy during the process. The "gun" is not loud at all, and all it does is push the piercing earring through the ear. It doesn't "shoot" it through or anything. Does that answer your question? They offered a new tungsten band, but that's not the one I was married in?!? plus, it will probably just break again if it's so "brittle" I'm never going back there.
