9-carat Pink Diamond, called the "Belle Epoque"

Can you imagine a 9-carat pink diamond dangling around your neck? That is now a reality for the proud owner of the “Belle Epoque” cushion-cut beauty sold by Christie’s auction in New York Tuesday. It far-exceeded the pre-auction estimates, and sold at a whopping $15.7 million!

The diamond was part of an estate owned by the late Huguette M. Clark, who had an extensive collection of high-end jewelry–much of it from the 1940s.

Aquamarine is a beryl mineral and the name beryl is derived from the Greek word beryllos, which refers to “precious blue-green color-of-sea-water stone.” Other beryl minerals include Emerald, golden beryl, Goshenite (a colorless beryl), Morganite (a pink beryl), and red beryl.

Aquamarine can be found in many places around the world including Brazil, Columbia, Zambia, Madagascar, Malawi, Tanzania and Kenya. In the United States aquamarine can be found in the Sawatch Range in central Colorado and in the Big Horn Mountains in Wyoming.

Tonal Machiotl Ihuan Baston Cuauhtemoc

Cuauhtli is just putting the finishing touches on an Aztec Tonal Machiotl Ihuán Bastón Cuauhtémoc, for the Cuauhtémoc ceremony. It is made of sterling silver, set with a large rock crystal quartz crystal and polished turquoise. It is mounted on the top of a long and straight staff of black oak hardwood. The base of the staff is said to have come from the original staff of Cuauhtémoc, passed down through the generations and handed directly to Cuauhtli from Cuauhtémoc’s grandson while in México.
