Half Price Jewelry?

We had a customer come in today who got an “amazing deal” from another local jeweler. They were told the original “retail” price was $10,000. They supposedly paid “half price” at $5,000. Our everyday competitive price for the same item was $4,850. Their item came with a certificate of appraisal with the replacement value at $9,000. From our perspective, this is down-right fraudulent! Unfortunately, we see this often. In fact, this is the 3rd customer in two weeks that has had a similar issue. Another customer paid 45% MORE than our everyday competitive price while being told they were getting a great deal!

We just got a new banner for our store. It matches the jewelry billboard in San Luis Obispo, and it reads “Real Stories”. It features doctors Carolyn & Ryan, from Foundations Family Wellness and McGaughey Chiropractic.

Ryan and Carolyn were such a cute couple and they had such an amazing story that we decided to feature them in our jewelry billboard in San Luis Obispo. They were both A-town raised, AHS graduates, and both became doctors. They each have their own practice in Atascadero. Dr. Carolyn Jones is a Naturopathic Doctor (N.D.) and Dr. Ryan McGaughey is a Doctor of Chiropractic (D.C.), both working in fields that compliment each other.

They were married at Taft Barn on June 9th, 2012, in a beautiful ceremony and reception photographed by Michael Stephens Photography.

Carolyn and Ryan’s Story

Carolyn and Ryan have a lot in common. And by a lot, we mean a lot.

Both attended Monterey Road Elementary School in Atascadero.
Both were graduates of Atascadero High School: Ryan in 1995 and Carolyn in 1999.
Both excelled in their respective sports at AHS: Ryan in football, soccer, and baseball and Carolyn in track and cross country.
Both were collegiate athletes: Ryan at UC Davis and Carolyn at UC San Diego and Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo.
Both decided to pursue their doctorates: Ryan is a Doctor of Chiropractic (D.C.) and Carolyn is Naturopathic Doctor (N.D.)

Both decided to move back to Atascadero to set up their natural healthcare practices.

Both had also neither met nor heard of each other until 2011…

Carolyn’s twin sister, Nancy, was suffering the pains of studying for the California State Bar exam. She needed a chiropractor. Carolyn decided to tag along… and the rest, as they say, is history.

Carolyn and Ryan were engaged on the top of Pine Mountain in Atascadero on February 12th, 2012, and were married at the Taft Barn on June 9th, 2012.

Both now work side-by-side in Atascadero sharing their love for each other, natural health, and their community. Doctor Carolyn works with Foundations Family Wellness and Doctor Ryan with McGaughey Chiropractic.

Brooklynn Gets Her Ears Pierced!

What Is A Diamond Plot?

When leaving a ring or piece of jewelry for repair, an appraisal, or even a deep cleaning, a lot of our customers ask what we are doing when we examine the piece under the microscope prior to take-in.

When you leave a piece of jewelry, along with the measurements and a detailed description, we create a plot of your center or any prominent diamond or diamonds. A plot is simply a diagram drawing. We use a high powered 10x & 40x microscope, allowing us to see every detail of the stone. Features we look for include any of the stones unique characteristics, such as the inclusions inside the diamond, a thin or thick girdle, a faceted or frosted girdle, any naturals or extra facets, etc. Sometimes the diamond will even have a microscopic laser inscription with an ID number. We note any legible features, along with a map or drawing of the unique inclusions onto the plot. No two diamonds are the same. We view the inclusions as a finger print for your diamond. After we study the stone and draw out your plot, we then show it to you under the microscope.

This is recommended, as it is important for you to know what your diamond looks like so you are able to identify it.
