About K-Jon's Fine Jewelers

The roots of K-Jon’s Fine Jewelers stretch back more than 50 years. The business literally started from the ground up. Kay and John, Stan’s parents and the namesakes of K-Jon’s, were avid rockhounds and gem and mineral enthusiasts. Stan grew up learning to appreciate nature’s wonders on family camping trips looking for geodes, agate, fire agate, and petrified wood, as well as other stones. He learned to cut and polish stones and opals before he was ten. Precious opals continue to be one of his favorite gemstones.

Stan met Mary while both attending Cal Poly, and they were soon married. Together, they continued to pursue their interest in gems and started traveling the western states as gem dealers. This led to the opening of K-Jon’s Fine Jewelers in May of 1980, as they desired a more stable lifestyle for their growing family. Outgrowing their original store, they were excited to move into their new showroom at the same location in 2004. Stan and Mary Sherwin are proud that K-Jon’s Fine Jewelers is recognized as the prominent jewelry store on the Central Coast. They and their crew are passionate about quality gemstone and diamond jewelry and providing excellent service for their customers.

In keeping with our strong beliefs in ethics, value, and continuing education, K-Jon’s Fine Jewelers is honored to be a member of the American Gem Society (AGS). AGS has strict ethical and professional requirements and less than 5% of jewelers nationwide are able to qualify for membership. We are proud of the honor and responsibility that AGS membership brings with it.

With our focus on customer service, K-Jon’s Fine Jewelers has one of the most professional sales staff of any store. All members of our staff are encouraged to take courses and attend conferences from a variety of industry leaders. In addition to courses taken through the Gemological Institute of America (GIA) and the American Gem Society (AGS), our staff frequently attends conferences and seminars, and stays current with industry publications. Titles held by our staff include Certified Gemologist Appraiser (AGS), Certified Gemologist (AGS), Graduate Gemologist (GIA), Graduate Jeweler Gemologist (GIA), Registered Jeweler (AGS), Certified Sales Associate (AGS), Accredited Jewelry Professional (GIA), and Diamond Grading (GIA). All AGS titleholders are tested annually to ensure up to date industry knowledge.

K-Jon’s Fine Jewelers has done in house jewelry repairs since 1980. We currently have four fully qualified jewelers with over 75 years of combined experience. Two of them have each been with us for nearly fifteen years! We have state-of-the-art equipment and tools that enables us to repair jewelry professionally and efficiently. Our bench jewelers have taken extensive courses throughout the years, including courses in advanced stone setting, platinum fabrication and repairs, and advanced tools for jewelers, as well as courses in diamonds and colored stones.

Custom jewelry design has always been a strong element of K-Jon’s Fine Jewelers. Bring us your ideas and we will work with you to create a unique jewelry item that is truly something special. Working in platinum, gold, and silver, our jewelers create high quality, detail-oriented custom jewelry for any occasion. We can create something entirely from scratch, as well as work with your existing stones or jewelry items.

K-Jon’s Fine Jewelers is proud to staff two Certified Gemologist Appraisers (AGS). This is the highest level of education possible for appraisers. In addition, they both have earned the title of Graduate Gemologist (GIA), Certified Gemologist (AGS) and Registered Jeweler (AGS). Our appraisers have extensive industry and gemological knowledge. Continuing education keeps them current on gemological values and trends.
