Where to Size a Ring Paso Robles & Atascadero

When deciding who you should bring your ring to in order to fit it to your finger in North San Luis Obispo County, it's important to know what to look for in a bench jeweler. Below, we've outlined a few of the most important qualities to look for in a SLO Jeweler.
This is important. Especially if you're bringing something of high value or great sentimental significance to your jeweler, you need to be able to trust your jeweler. You need to know that the jeweler will be taking good care of your precious heirloom. If the jeweler in question doesn't have a good track record, their reputation will reflect that. Likewise, if they're good at what they do, people you know and ask will tell you so!
Years in the business will tell you anlot about the jewelry store, but you must also know how long the jeweler/Goldsmith himself has been working on jewelry. Furthermore, what kind of jewelry has he/she had experience with? If you want your diamond re-set in a ring here in San Luis Obispo county, ideally, you want to make sure you find a jeweler that has re-set diamonds quite a few times, instead of mostly fixing chains, watches, or resizing bands. Level of jewelry repair: If your repair requires work on platinum, does the jeweler know what skills are required for such work? Does he/she know how to solder platinum or even that diamonds and other gemstones should be removed before heating the ring too hot?
Though not all bench jewelers have formal degrees in their trade, the better ones will have taken formal courses in specific work, such as stone setting, platinum repair, laser welding, and other skills. Likewise, a goldsmith should have other assets on his/her team, such as gemologists that can properly identify a gemstone before he works on it. If he is about to apply 1800 degrees of heat to a ring, he should know if it is set with a garnet (which will not take heat) or a ruby (which will).
Multiple jewelers in San Luis Obispo county will take a ring in to re-size and promptly ship it out or have it picked up for the repair to be done off-site. This may work out well, but involves risks as the ring is being transported. It's better to find a jeweler who will keep your ring safe and sound inside a vault or safe, on-site. That way, nothing happens in transit. As you can see from the above list, there is quite a lot to consider when doing something as apparently simple as sizing as ring. However, if you find the right jeweler, all these concerns should be addressed. At K-Jon's Fine Jewelers in Atascadero, we have very well-trained and experienced jewelers, each working in their trade for over 30 years. They have attended formal classes, as well as learning much throught their experience on the bench. Finally, we don't ship out ring sizings or other repairs. We keep our sizing jobs in-house.
